Tummy Tuck Boston

When you want to improve the look of your belly and diet and exercise aren’t the answer, the best solution may be to opt for an abdominoplasty. Also known as a tummy tuck, this procedure removes loose skin, stretch marks, and belly fat bringing you towards a toned and flat stomach.

This procedure addresses excess sagging skin and fat in the abdominal region. Diets and exercise routines are important, but cannot reduce significant amounts of loose skin such as after substantial weight loss, pregnancy, or when nothing else works to tone up your mid section.

I wanted to share my review before my final results are even in! I am a tummy tuck patient who had my surgery at Spiegel Surgical Center with Dr. Shektman. First I met Dr. Spiegel who was very welcoming and informative. So important when making this kind of decision. Also the surgical staff at Spiegel is top. The morning of my surgery I was greeted by a wonderful surgical assistant “Pinky” I felt so safe and cared for. Uzma Husain the patient coordinator is amazing. From beginning to end she was there for me answering any questions making my experience very personal and safe. I highly recommend!

Why Patients Choose Abdominoplasty

As a person grows older, the muscles in their abdomen become weaker and start to sag. This can cause a noticeable abdominal bulge. On top of that, the elasticity of your skin declines, leading to sagging of the overlying skin. Pockets of excess stubborn fat can also form in the abdominal region.

With pregnancy, expansion of the abdomen over 9 months causes the muscles of the abdominal wall to separate and become weak. The skin stretches and expands rapidly as well, and after childbirth, it often cannot shrink back down to where it was. Fast stretching with pregnancy can cause scars known as “stretch marks”

Sagging abdominal skin, excess fat, drooping muscles, and stretch marks can often have a negative impact on self-confidence. It can be difficult to hide these issues in form fitting clothing, at the gym, or in swimwear at the beach or pool. Fortunately, abdominoplasty can help.
The Abdominoplasty Process

Abdominoplasty is typically done in our state of the art surgery center using either general or sedation anesthesia. After the anesthesia takes effect, incisions are commonly made from hipbone to hipbone and around the bellybutton in a way that will hide the resulting scars well. In fact, you will likely be asked to bring your favorite underwear or bikini bottoms so that the doctor can make sure the incision will hide well.
Internal sutures are used to tighten and reconnect the muscles of the abdominal wall. Liposuction removes excess fatty tissue, and then the excess skin is tailored back into position. Once everything is in place and the skin and muscles are properly tightened, everything is closed with carefully placed stitches.

Recovering from Abdominoplasty

Once you get an abdominoplasty, you will probably be feeling like you want to get back on your feet as fast as possible. However, it’s best to keep in mind that the rate of recovery depends on how well you take care of yourself during the healing process.

Make sure you follow the doctor’s instructions during your recovery period.

For the next six weeks after the procedure, you will need to wear an abdominal binder, which is a compressive dressing like a girdle or “Spanx”. This will help to reduce swelling and bruising and permit your scar to heal as invisibly as possible. During sleep, it can be helpful to slightly elevate your upper body and keep your knees bent. You can make this easier by placing pillows underneath your knees. It’s like sleeping in a “beach chair”.

Drink plenty of water every day during recovery and stick to a healthy diet. Try to include all types of vegetables and fresh fruits, which will give your body the nutrients it needs to heal properly. You can also take vitamin C and vitamin A supplements to reduce the duration of the recovery period.

Try to walk for a short time every day after the surgery in order to ensure proper blood flow and avoid complications. Stay away from strenuous activities such as lifting heavy weights or vigorous exercise. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, since these can hamper the healing process.

Tummy Tuck FAQ With Dr. Spiegel

Do you have a perfect body? Can you say there's not a single area of unwanted fat, jiggle, looseness, or sagging anywhere to be found?

No? Most people will say that even if they exercise all day they may not get the shape they want because of genetic and other factors.

Fortunately, we can help. Body contouring involves removing and repositioning fat, tightening skin, and even strengthening muscle to get you the shape you want. Six pack abs, an hour-glass figure, tight shapely or muscular arms, and a thigh gap are just some of the features that body contouring can help you achieve with surgical and non-surgical options like fat freezing and bodytite and Morpheus by InMode.

There are three main parts to body contouring. First, undesired fat is removed with the popular liposuction procedure. Say goodbye to the spare tire and banana rolls! Next, the fat is purified and replaced where you want it with fat transplant to the face or other body parts. Hello booty or hips! Finally, the skin is tightened to eliminate wrinkles and cellulite to show off your new physique.

Once we help you shape your body to the desired appearance, it's really you. That new body shape is yours and it's real, not an illusion. Of course, you'll keep aging and your body will change with time. You'll just be starting from a great place!

The experienced surgeons at TSC will help you know if body contouring is the right choice for your goals. Sometimes we can treat the area more than once as time passes. Other times, we may recommend a different type of procedure towards the same goal.

The most common things to experience are swelling, bruising, and some downtime. You'll want to avoid significant physical activity for a while after your body contouring procedure. The exact amount of time, and duration of limitation, will vary based upon the number of areas treated, and the extent of the procedure.

It's typical to have some oozing from the needle pokes through which the surgery is done, and, you'll probably need to wear a compression dressing (like Spanx(TM)) for a number of days. Overall, recovery is pretty straightforward and it's unusual for people to find it very difficult.

Is Tummy Tuck as an unbeatable treatment, or is Liposuction with Bodytite? What do I need?
Tummy TuckLiposuction is a permanent fat reduction procedure. Yes permanent. Fat cells located under the skin are mechanically removed using a vacuum. The fat (lipo) is literally suctioned away. The vacuum attachments are called cannulas and are quite narrow. That’s why the procedure can be done with only a tiny poke rather than a big incision.
