Liposuction Boston

You have been religious about your diet for years. You spend the requisite amount of time in the gym. Unfortunately, there are still those stubborn areas on your body that have accumulated fat that just seem immune to whatever you do. Some of it may be genetic and some of it is just related to what happens as we age. So ,whether you need to remove that resistant fat in your neck (probably genetic), abdomen, love handles or inner thighs, there is a solution – liposuction.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction was first introduced in the United States in the 1980s. The procedure is designed to remove stubborn fat pockets from the chin, neck, abdomen, love handles, under arms, hips and inner thighs. As suggested by the name, this procedure sucks the fat out of the target area. As the treatment removes the fat cells it is a permanent solution. The total number of fat cells in your body are determined during adolescence. Therefore, by removing fats cells, even if you gain weight, it is less likely to be seen in the treated areas in the future

How is Liposuction Performed?

Liposuction is an invasive surgical procedure. You will be treated under general anesthetic. The target areas for the treatment will be identified and outlined on your skin with marker. A small incision will be made and a cannula (tube with suction) will be inserted attached to a powerful vacuum. The cannula is moved back and forth to break up the fat and then the loose fat is suction out through the hollow tube with the vacuum.

What Should I expect?

Once the surgery is completed, you will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks. This garment is designed to ensure that you have limited swelling and to help maintain the desired body contours. You may also have drains in the target areas to remove any excess body fluids or blood during the recovery period. You may be provided antibiotics to ensure that no infection develops and pain medications . Your surgeon will provide you with instructions on maintaining the bandages and treating the area and preparing for removal of any stitches that have been used to close the incisions. Depending on the amount of fat removed, you may need follow up treatments to tighten the skin the target area.

I was referred to Dr. Speigel through a friend. Then I met Uzma, she met with me, explained all the steps and did a fabulous job walking me through the game plan that was laid out with Dr. Speigel and his associates. These people are fabulous, everyone in the office. I felt comfortable, confident and completely at ease the whole time. As for the results from my procedure, I couldn’t be happier. With a little luck I’ll be one of their before and after photos. The follow up after my procedure was so good that it was almost annoying, it was like my mother was taking care of me and wouldn’t leave me alone until she knew I was fine. Uzma was there every step of the way like the girlfriend that wanted to take care of me and assure me that i was in good hands the whole time. I arrived there at 10:30 and was back at home before 2:00. I was expecting a 5-7 day down time but it was only 3 days. I feel and look like a new man now. Everyone that I’ve shown my procedure to can’t believe the difference and that goes for me too. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Speigel Center for helping me feel like a new person. You’re all terrific!!!!!
