In most cases, facial plastic surgery is performed because patients feel insecure or dissatisfied with one or more aspects of their appearances. Below are just a few examples of procedures that can not only help improve a patient’s appearance; they will go a long way in being instrumental with regards to boosting their self-esteem as well.

Facelifts

These procedures address facial issues such as loose, sagging or excess skin, deep wrinkles, line and/or creases, hanging jowls, and folds that may have appeared around the lower facial area over time. Surgeons usually begin these procedures by making the necessary small incisions around the hairline and behind the ears in an effort to disguise them as much as possible. Underlying tissue will then be tightened, while any excess fat and skin is removed at the same time. During this time, surgeons will also tighten facial muscles in order to support the new contours on the lower facial area. Once complete, all incisions will be closed and healing will take a few weeks at the most.

Rhinoplasty

Many people are extremely embarrassed about the appearance of their noses. Rhinoplasty can address a wide range of imperfections such a crooked nose, one which is too large or that may be misshapen in any way. Surgeons are able to change the shape of the tip of the nose, narrow or widen unusual-shaped nostrils, change its angle or even re-contour the bridge completely. Nowadays, this has become a straightforward procedure and research has shown that it has the ability to provide a tremendous boost of self-esteem to patients who have it performed.

Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery is usually performed in an effort to remove excess or sagging skin around the upper and lower eyelids, which is a common occurrence in older patients. When this happens, it can make them look even older or it makes them look permanently tired and fatigued – in rare cases, it can affect their vision as well. Blepharoplasty can address all of these issues by lifting the eyelids and making patients look younger in the process. In addition, any excess skin or fat that is present under the eyelids will be removed at the same time, leaving the patient with a new and improved appearance.

Otoplasty

Many people have endured years of relentless teasing and mocking because of their ears that may either be too large, oddly-shaped or that stick out. However, otoplasty can address these matters relatively quickly and easily, leaving patients with an all-new appearance. Incisions are usually made in the crease behind the ear to disguise them, excess skin is removed and the incisions are then closed again.

When choosing a plastic surgeon, patients should base their decision on reputation, as this will ensure that the procedures are correctly performed the first time. Anyone who would like to find out more about any of the above procedures can schedule an appointment with one of our knowledgeable surgeons as soon as possible.
