Buttock augmentation has quickly become one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures, with the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) emerging as a leading surgical option. However, with recent advancements in non-surgical procedures, non-surgical BBL has become an increasingly sought-after alternative. In this blog post, we will explore both options and help you determine which one is right for you.

Surgical Brazilian Butt Lift

The surgical Brazilian Butt Lift involves removing excess fat from an area of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, or thighs, and injecting it into the buttocks. The procedure typically takes between two and three hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Recovery time is usually four to six weeks, with the first two weeks being the most challenging as patients require round-the-clock rest to ensure proper healing.

Pros of Surgical BBL

  • Long-lasting results: Surgical BBL can provide long-lasting results, with the fat transferred to the buttocks being largely permanent.
  • Customizable results: Since your own fat is being used, the results of surgical BBL are entirely customizable. The surgeon can shape your buttocks according to your desires and your body type.
  • Added body contouring: During surgical BBL, excess fat is removed from another part of the body, providing additional body contouring.

Cons of Surgical BBL

  • Invasive procedure: Surgical BBL requires general anesthesia and incisions, which can be riskier than non-surgical alternatives.
  • Potential complications: Surgical BBL carries the risk of complications, such as asymmetry, fluid accumulation, embolism, and even death.
  • Long recovery time: Recovery from surgical BBL can take several weeks, making it difficult to get back to everyday life right away.  You’ll need to wear a supportive compression garment where the fat was removed and avoid putting pressure on your buttocks (no sitting!) for a while.

Non-Surgical Butt Lift

The non-surgical Butt Lift, or Liquid Butt Lift, is administered using injectable filler substances and biostimulators. During the procedure, injectables such as hyaluronic acid, Radiesse, or Sculptra are used to add volume to the buttocks, providing the lift and shape that you desire. Recovery time following a non-surgical butt lift is minimal, allowing for a return to normal daily activities almost immediately.

Pros of Liquid BBL

  • Minimally-invasive: Non-surgical Butt Lifts do not require general anesthesia or incisions, reducing the risk of complications.  It’s typically just one or two needle pokes per side.
  • Minimal downtime: Non-surgical Butt Lifts require minimal recovery time, allowing you to return to most of your regular activities immediately.
  • Affordable: Non-surgical Butt Lifts are often less expensive than surgical options.
  • Thinner people: If you have limited fat to take out for transfer to the backside, a non-surgical butt lift is particularly helpful.

Cons of Liquid BBL

  • Nature of results Non-surgical butt lifts can require additional filler to be placed for the best outcomes. It will depend upon how your body responds to the bio stimulator fillers we place. And, the result depends upon how much material is placed. More material = more backside!
  • Cost: As stated, the more you put in the more you get out.  The cost can be much less than a surgical butt lift, but, if you want a lot of improvement, you’ll need to repeat the procedure more than once.

Which BBL Option Is Right for You?

While both surgical and non-surgical BBL offer a range of benefits, it is important to consult with a qualified medical professional to determine which option is right for you. If you want long-lasting, custom-shaped results and are comfortable with the risks and recovery time, surgical BBL may be the way to go. If you are looking for a quick, minimally-invasive way to fill in a hollow, smooth out irregularities, or add more volume, non-surgical BBL is a great choice.  Non-surgical is also great when you don’t have a lot of time to rest for recovery.

Conclusion

Your buttocks play an essential role in your overall appearance, and with surgical and non-surgical BBL options available, you can achieve the look you desire. Be sure to weigh the pros and cons of each method and consult with a qualified medical professional to determine which option is right for you. Whether you opt for surgical or non-surgical, BBL, a more lifted, rounded, and contoured buttocks can provide immediate body confidence and significant benefits that you can enjoy for years to come.
