A healthy diet can go a long way toward helping people prevent health problems while also slowing down the aging process. Men need to include different foods into an anti-aging diet than women do because of their increased risk of certain health problems and the unique way in which their bodies age.

Sweet Potatoes

High in Vitamin A, sweet potatoes are good anti aging foods because they are high in fiber and low in fat. As such, they help promote good cardiovascular health, which is something that men over 50 need to be concerned about. They also help the skin stay healthy and may even prevent sun damage. Sweet potatoes are also high in antioxidants, which help prevent free radicals that could cause prostrate or other cancers from forming.

Berries

Berries are also high in antioxidants and help ward off different types of cancers. That’s not all, as they also help to promote healthy circulation, which in turn can lower blood pressure and promote good cardiovascular health. Cranberries have long been hailed as a way to maintain good urinary tract health, and drinking cranberry juice on a regular basis may reduce one’s risk of developing kidney or bladder infections.

Ginger

Ginger contains anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it ideal for relieving the pain associated with arthritis. It also helps improve circulation, strengthens the immune system and speeds digestion. Since men can be plagued with poor circulation and a sluggish metabolism as they grow older, ginger can be an excellent food to deal with multiple issues. Ginger root can be boiled to make tea, or ground to make a spice that can be added to meat or vegetables.

Spinach

It’s no myth that spinach helps men retain their strength. That’s because it’s high in magnesium, which helps to promote healthy muscle and nerve growth. Eating spinach on a regular basis can not only help men stay stronger, but this food also improves digestion and provides antioxidants that help fight cancer. The vitamins found in spinach are also helpful in maintaining healthy skin tone, since some of the nitrates in greens help repair free radical damage and prevent wrinkles from occurring.

Grape Juice

Grape juice has several anti-aging benefits, and one of the biggest ones is the fact that it reduces the odds of heart attack and stroke. It also contains a high amount of polyphenols, which are compounds that actually slow down the aging process and help to improve one’s memory. It also has properties that are beneficial to the skin, preventing sagging while also reducing free radical damage. Resveratrol is plentiful in grape skins, so when these are used to make juice some of the benefits can include reduced inflammation in the joints and pain relief.

While these anti aging foods all have unique benefits for men, they are not miracle cures for any disease or condition. Even so, consuming them on a regular basis can slow down the aging process in many cases. Eating the right foods along with a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise can be the best way to grow older gracefully.
