Facial Feminization Surgery Procedures

Facial feminization surgery (FFS)

Facial feminization surgery (FFS) is commonly defined as “a group of surgical procedures that alter the face to increase its femininity”. While the definition is accurate, Dr. Spiegel defines FFS as procedures that provide patients with the face they should have been born with. During facial feminization surgery, masculine markers are removed from the face to feminize and beautify the face. Dr. Spiegel often thinks of Facial Feminization Surgery as Gender Confirming Facial Surgery.

Facial Feminization Surgery Recovery & Support

Recovery following FFS can be grueling and uncomfortable–especially in the first few days after surgery. Your face will be a rainbow of colors during the first week after surgery! However, at one week “post-op” patients are feeling surprisingly well!

Facial Feminization Surgery Surgery Photos

The photos here feature a handful of our patients before and after surgery. Most photos are taken one day before surgery and within one-year post-op. Since Dr. Spiegel is able to customize each patient’s surgical plan to help fit their aesthetic goals and their lifestyle no one surgery is alike.

Forehead Contouring

Dr. Spiegel is likely the most experienced surgeon in the world for this amazing procedure. If you have deep-set eyes, prominent ridges above the brow, or other forehead irregularities, Dr. Spiegel can completely reshape the forehead and bone around the eyes. You’ll have a smoother, softer forehead with brighter, more open eyes. Adjusting your hairline and eyebrows are also done at the same time if necessary and desired.

Procedure time:* 1-2 hours.
Downtime:* two weeks.

Hair Restoration

Shaving, tweezing, plucking, cutting, waxing, laser, styling, curling, flattening, and highlighting. These are just a few of the things we do to keep our hair looking good.

Often, we’re removing unwanted hair, and the laser and electrolysis services we offer can keep you smooth and sleek. However, we do want full hair on top of our heads, and overly thinned eyebrows are undesirable. Hair restoration can also hide scars, fill in a beard, and replace hair you once removed (e.g. from the chest or genital areas).

Non-Surgical Feminization

Non-surgical facial feminization offers a way to enhance specific features of the face to create a more refined feminine appearance without having to undergo surgery. A lot of people are not quite ready to commit to the permanence or recovery of surgery. Non-surgical facial feminization allows people to see what their surgical results could be so that they can feel more confident undergoing the procedure.

Mandible Contouring

Dr. Spiegel is one of the world’s busiest surgeons in this highly specialized procedure. If your jaw or chin is too large, too wide, too long, asymmetric, or otherwise different from how you wish, speak with us. Patients from around the world travel here to get a smoother, softer, natural, contoured look. The results are amazing!

Procedure time:* 1 hour.
Downtime:* 3 weeks of swelling.

Scalp Advancement

Do you have a high hairline or hairline recession? If so, this procedure may be right for you. Dr. Spiegel is one of the world’s busiest surgeons at adjusting the hairline and can advance, round, and reshape your scalp and hair. Often this is all you’ll need, though sometimes a few hair grafts afterward perfect the results.

Procedure time:* 1 hour.
Downtime:* about 10 days.

Trachea Shave

Reduce a large Adam’s apple with this short procedure. The incision is small and heals amazingly well- often without stitches. Dr. Spiegel is considered one of the world’s masters at this procedure.

Procedure time:* 1 hour.
Downtime:* just a few days!

Voice Feminization Surgery

Looking for the right voice to match your appearance? Dr. Spiegel can raise or lower the pitch of your voice by adjusting the shape and tension of the vocal cords. Vocal rest and training after surgery are recommended.

Procedure time:* 2 hours.
Downtime:* a few days, voice rest for 2-3 weeks.
