Why Pursue A Neck Lift?

Do you have the dreaded turkey neck, or have a bit more sagging under your chin than you’d like? A neck lift is a popular and effective way to reduce excess skin and neck tissue. Wondering about the difference between a neck lift and a facelift?

A neck lift improves the appearance of the neck and jawline, while a facelift addresses the neck, jowls, and lower face. Many patients worry about excess fatty tissue in the neck, which can be easily remedied with liposuction during a neck lift in Boston.

What Is Neck Lift Surgery?

During a neck lift, a well-hidden incision is made along the bottom of the ear and up into the hairline behind the ear. This is shorter than the incision a facelift requires, and it camouflages beautifully into the natural crease of the ear and head. The ideal candidate has some fullness or excess skin in the neck but is otherwise happy with their face.

For some, we can do a neck lift exclusively through a small incision under the chin.  Here, we do a “deep neck lift” where the deeper tissues are addressed and tightened.  With a deep neck lift we often don’t need to remove any skin at all. This is great for younger persons with a full neck who still have very elastic and youthful skin.

Typically a neck lift in Boston is performed in the operating room using monitored sedation or general anesthesia. In some cases, we can perform the procedure in one of our office procedure rooms with local anesthesia. The surgery usually lasts 1 ½ -2 hours, depending on the amount of work required and the complexity.

What Is Recovery From A Neck Lift Like?

Recovery is relatively easy; patients are free to return home following surgery with the help of an escort. Most patients label the discomfort as minimal for the first week following surgery. It is common to experience some bruising and swelling for the following week around the neck and lower face, and even the upper chest for some patients, as gravity can pull the bruising downward.

Most patients feel well enough to resume work and daily activities about 10 days following surgery. If you have a less physically demanding job, you may be able to return to work sooner. Pain medication is given to patients, although many don’t need it after the 2nd or 3rd day after surgery.

Results You Will Love

We encourage rest and relaxation during the recovery period for the best results. Sutures are removed approximately 8 days after the procedure. Most patients experience mild redness at the incision, but otherwise look and feel good. Neck lift results typically last 7-10 years, although this varies from patient to patient, and you will know you are aging from a better starting point than before.

Safety Is Our Chief Concern

Every surgical procedure comes with risks. For a neck lift, this includes bruising, swelling, temporary muscle or nerve weakness, bleeding, patches of numbness, infection, or need for future revision. In almost all cases, any problems are easily treated during a quick office visit. And, most importantly, problems after neck lift are very rare.

Enhancing The Results Of Your Neck Lift

Combining a neck lift with other facial rejuvenation measures is a common way to get an overall younger appearance. The Spiegel Center offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical facial procedures including the brow lift, eye lift, and BOTOX injections to complement your neck lift results.

Dr. Spiegel can recommend additional options to help you achieve your desired look during your consultation. Not ready for a neck lift in Boston? You can consider InMode FaceTite (NeckTite), Morpheus 8, or botulinum injections to the neck bands.

Neck Lift Cost & Payment Options

The cost of a neck lift in Boston varies based on the techniques used to perform the procedure, the scope of correction needed, and whether or the neck lift is done in conjunction with another procedure.
