Do you like your chin? You may have a cleft chin, weak chin, recessed chin, square chin, witch chin, long chin, droopy chin, masculine chin, or feminine chin. All can be good, but if it doesn’t fit your face, it’s not right.

A weak chin makes your nose look large and your neck have no angle (giving you a fat neck). An overly square chin or very cleft chin (“butt” chin) can make your face look very masculine or unfriendly. A long chin resembles the classic “witch chin” and can make your face look unbalanced or sinister.

There are many ways to adjust the chin, and we do them all! Many are even quickly done right in the office and require only local anesthesia or no anesthesia.

For a weak chin we can inject a filler or place a chin implant. Dermal Fillers such as hyaluronic acid, calcium and glass ionomer fillers can be placed into the chin area. The beauty with hyaluronic acid fillers such as Versa, Juvederm, and Restylane is that they can be reversed. Calcium-based fillers such as Radiesse can also be reversed, though a bit harder. Chin implants are permanent, safe, and customizable. We have a wide variety of sizes and shapes available at all times. And once done, they do not need to be replaced. We typically do these through the inside of the mouth so there is no visible scar. Another alternative is a genioplasty (or sliding genioplasty). In this procedure a tall but recessed chin bone is cut and slid forward to a better shape. This takes about one hour and requires general anesthesia.

For a wide, cleft, long, witch, or otherwise oversized chin we need to reduce the size. This is a very specialized procedure and nobody has more experience in this than we do! Going through the inside of the mouth the bone is reduced in size and shape to just what you want. But, there’s more to it. If too much bone is reduced you’ll have too much soft fleshy tissue at the chin that can sag or droop. Using special techniques we can reduce that as well for a beautiful chin and neck.

Chin surgery can dramatically improve your facial harmony, attractiveness, and confidence. There are office and OR based options that can get you to where you want to be.
