What’s the difference between Botox and fillers?

People ask me, “What’s the difference between fillers and Botulinum like Botox ®, Dysport®, Jeuveau® and Xeomin®?” The answer is simple–Fillers fill in loss of space. As we get older, we get more cavities around our face. We lose fascia, we lose fat, we even lose some bone. Those fillers “fill in” so we look more even toned and our faces can be created to be more harmonious. Some fillers are Calcium based and actually promote collagen production under the skin. Others, like Juvederm®, Restylane® and Versa® are Hyaluronic acid fillers made up of similar material that our body already makes and stores in high concentrations in places like the tear trough area and joints.
As far as botulinums, they actually freeze the muscles. They relax the muscles and shrink them so that those lines that we have disappear. Most of us need the fillers and botulinum to give us back that youthful look we had years ago.
