In most cases, women are the ones who suffer most from brown spots on their faces. This is often a direct result of hormonal changes which can occur during menopause or pregnancy and in some cases; it can even be caused by using certain birth control pills or excessive exposure to the sun. Although it is not difficult to get rid of brown spots on the face, it can take a few months in order to see noticeable results. There are natural as well as medicinal remedies.

Use a Cream That Contains Hydroquinone

Most dermatologists recommend using a facial cream that contains hydroquinone in order to get rid of brown spots on the face. This is because of the fact that it has skin-lightening abilities, so in time, it will help with removing brown spots on the face. In more severe cases, a dermatologist may recommend a cream that contains additional ingredients such as cortisone, tretinoin and hydroquinone which may be more effective than plain hydroquinone. Because this combination of ingredients may cause skin irritation, it is usually only prescribed for severe cases of brown spots. If there is no improvement on the skin after three to six months of using this, laser treatment or chemical peels may be considered.

Take a More Natural Approach

Removing brown spots on the face can also be done by using natural remedies instead of chemical-based creams. Many women have reported that they have successfully been able to reduce the appearance of brown spots by applying one or more of the following juices to their skin: citrus juice (either lemon or orange juice), pineapple juice or even tomato juice to their facial skin. If the skin is delicate, these can be diluted with a little water before applying. Another remedy used to get rid of brown spots on the face involves combining cream, honey and sour milk and applying the mixture to your face on a daily basis. Although natural remedies may not act as quickly as creams, they are usually a safer option.

Prevention May be Better than a Cure

Although some women can’t avoid the hormonal changes which lead to the development of brown spots, there are cases where prevention is a lot easier than removing brown spots on the face. One of the worst culprits for causing brown facial spots is excessive sun exposure. That is why it is so important for women to ensure that they use a sunscreen product that has a protection factor of at least 30 before going out into the sun each day. Not only will it help to prevent skin cancer, it will also help reduce the appearance of brown spots and in some cases, prevent them from forming at all.

It is important for women to realize that removing brown spots on the face need not be a daunting task. By either speaking to a dermatologist or by using one of the natural treatments mentioned above, they will be able to get some form of treatment for them while also regaining some of their self-confidence in the process.
