With tax refunds about to land in physical and electronic mailboxes, a nation is turning its thoughts to that special annual question: How should I spend the money that the IRS is about to give to me? One of these 5 facial cosmetic procedures could answer said question perfectly.

1. Fat is Where it is At

Cosmetic surgeons can harvest fat from buttocks or stomachs and then inject this fat into the face, resulting in a more youthful appearance. This surprisingly noninvasive cosmetic procedure can give a face the plumpness of youth – or reshape a face so that symmetry is achieved. Bringing new fat cells to your facial skin is not prohibitively expensive, especially for those in possession of a tax refund; the procedure starts at about $1500.

2. Microdermabrasion

Encouraging your face to grow new skin is increasingly in vogue at the dermatologist’s office. Using extremely fine particles or even diamonds at the end of a special tool, the dermatologist encourages the tiny skin cells that form the top layer of skin on your face to abscond, making room for new cells to grow and bring a youthful glow where once there was dullness. Microdermabrasion can cost as little as $300.

3. Lasers

Lasers have transformed many medical procedures, and are incredibly useful in reducing the size and prominence of wrinkles and in tightening skin that loosely fits the face, not to mention ridding the skin of unsightly blemishes and acne scars. This procedure usually costs just under $3,000 and is not invasive, with recovery time sitting at approximately two days as the newly reddened skin returns to its natural hue.

4. Chemical Peel

The chemical peel is one of the more well-known cosmetic procedures that can whip facial skin into impressive shape. This noninvasive process has goals similar to that of the microdermabrasion, sloughing away older skin cells and encouraging the growth of plump new ones. The idea is that you leave the dermatologist’s office with new facial skin. For those expecting a tax refund in the neighborhood of $700 or $800, the chemical peel is an ideal choice.

5. The Face Lift

The face list is undoubtedly the best known cosmetic procedure; it involves tightening the skin of the face and the neck, and it is no longer relegated to movie stars and aristocrats. It is not uncommon for human beings to wear their age on the skin of their necks, which often becomes increasingly loose and wrinkly over time. A plastic surgeon usually charges around $4,500 to complete this procedure which is popular among women over the age of 25.

Facial cosmetic procedures have gone mainstream in America with over 13 million Americans making the choice to undergo a minimally invasive procedure in 2012, while about 10 percent of that number opted for more invasive choices. It seems that more of us are deciding to change things so that we greet our image in the mirror with an enthusiastic grin.
