When you think of plastic surgery procedures that target the face, it’s common to only think about a facelift, but what about the brow area. A brow lift is another type of facial plastic surgery designed to eliminate excess skin and fatty deposits in the brow area to improve the contours in that region.

An aesthetically pleasing brow is located just over the orbital rim of the eye which is the elevated top region of the eye socket. Brows are laterally arched and the tail end is higher than the middle. With age, it is common to lose the arched shape of the brow and develop a saggy skin that will make you look tired and sometimes even angry or sad. This loss in shape is associated with poor skin elasticity that degrades with age.

Understanding Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscope is a viewing apparatus that offers a real-time image of the internal organs. It consists of a metal tube connected to a camera to record images. The instrument itself acts like a probe and the images captured are displayed on a viewing screen. Endoscopy, as a technique, is largely relied upon while performing minimally invasive surgery. Its use in cosmetic surgery is as successful and popular as other procedures.

While the principle of endoscopy remains unaltered irrespective of its application, the procedure varies. For an endoscopic brow lift, a small incision is made along the forehead along the natural hairline. The underlying tissue is lifted to access the forehead and eyebrows.

The muscles present between the eyebrows are gently teased to remove frown lines and the attachment weighing the eyebrows down is surgically excised followed by lifting deep muscles in the forehead. Dissolvable fasteners are incorporated into the forehead to guide the tissues to take form according to the adjustments made.

The endoscopic brow lift is the preferred method of performing this procedure because it is less invasive than the traditional brow lift and as a result, patients will experience less downtime and les post-surgical marks.

What to Expect from an Endoscopic Brow Lift

An inescapable reality of an invasive cosmetic procedure is the aftercare involved. While the process of recovery varies according to the procedure performed, rest and a healthy diet are highly recommended to help facilitate a speedy recovery.

Soon after the procedure, you are likely to experience some discomfort as the anesthesia wears off. Bruising and swelling are also common signs to look for as the recovery process begins. These signs, however, are not noticed immediately. It may take a few days for the bruising to show. Don’t panic if you notice faint shadows appearing on the skin near the eyes.

Any swelling that you experience will drastically reduce after a few days. You will have a good idea of your final appearance once the swelling subsides. This may take up to two weeks. In most cases, the your surgeon may prescribe supplementary medication to help address the discomfort and accelerate healing.

During the process of recovery, a healthy amount of rest and some time off work is recommended. You should also avoid partaking in any strenuous activities until you are fully healed.

You can start off small by taking a light stroll or by doing something easy to handle. Ease into your normal routine one small activity at a time.
