Procedure: Brow Lift Source: Google I has a forehead reconstruction with brow lift and trachea shave done with Dr. Spiegel on March 2nd 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital. I came all the way from Korea to see Dr. Spiegel because Korean surgeons can’t perform the type 3 forehead reconstruction I desperately needed. Not only did both procedures go perfectly, my experience at Mount Auburn Hospital was absolutely amazing. He performed the trachea shave in a very safe manner, and I have experienced no negative changes in voice what so ever. Dr. Spiegel performed the brow lift slightly differently for me and the result suits my Asian face perfectly. He also fixed the minor ptosis in my right brow. Also what amazes me is the incision for my forehead reconstruction was closed up so carefully that after one week I can barely see the actual scar line except the scabs around it. As it turned out Dr. Spiegel was surprised too, because he said most patients aren’t nearly as careful as me after the procedure and always stress the surgery spot and stretch out the scar tissue early in the recovery process. Not only was the staff at Mount Auburn Hospital super friendly, I was offered a single room with a beautiful view of the river. My first night was absolutely painless, and my swelling was minimal. Also, the paient coordinator Katie at Dr. Spiegel’s office is the best! She was always responding to emails promptly, and she helped me so much with billing and scheduling the surgery. Procedure: Brow Lift Source: RealSelf.com Although I'm only 35 and didn't have saggy brows quite yet, I felt as though an endoscopic brow lift might be useful in opening up my face and giving me a more refreshed appearance overall. (Plus, who doesn't want the look of beautifully arched brows?!) I returned to Dr. Spiegel after he successfully performed a lip lift on me in 2010, and explained to him that I wanted something conservative and natural - nothing too pulled or tight looking. This is where Dr. Spiegel excels - he listens, observes and is genuinely passionate about his line of work. He assured me the the lift would be exactly what I wanted, so I booked the surgery and headed to Boston Medical Center a week later. Like any normal person undergoing appearance-altering surgery, I was certainly nervous and apprehensive. Dr. Spiegel visited me in my room before I was wheeled into the OR, and took the time to review the procedure and once again reiterate that I wasn't going to look too pulled or stretched. The procedure took approximately one hour and truth be told, the pain upon waking up wasn't bad at all. There was a tightness (similar feeling to your hair being in too tight of a ponytail), but otherwise, nothing too awful. I had bruising for about a week and a half after, and now that has subsided as well. I am now almost 3 weeks post op, and feel like a million bucks. Dr. Spiegel promised me I would look beautiful, refreshed and more alert, and he certainly delivered. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner! She appreciates being conservative (or at least my goal at only looking better not modified) and has only had a light hand with me. On the fillers: mouth area, temples, and tear troughs -- Mouth: Dr. Onir totally smoothed out the lines around my mouth. If you're on the fence about getting fillers here, it's a no brainer. -- Temples: if you're anything like me, the idea of fillers in your temples seems way strange and/or unnecessary...well it's most definitely NOT. I didn't realize how hollowed out I was -- and I only just turned 33! This area, if she suggests it - DO IT! You'll be amazed by the difference it'll make in your appearance -- wayyyy worth it and probably the area that made the most overall difference in my appearance. --Tear troughs: this area is tricky, may not be for everyone. It's a super sensitive area, so swelling and bruising should be expected. I was freaking out at first, but things calmed down after a couple of weeks. I've always had dark circles ( they're hereditary), and was constantly being asked if I was tired. Now it's the opposite - I'm told "you look well rested ;)" To sum up my experience, it was great! If you’re like me and your heavy eyelids and furrowed brow make you look like you want to murder someone when you’re actually happy, perhaps you’ve considered cosmetic surgery. I was convinced I needed blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery) and a brow lift, or perhaps even a face lift. Luckily, I met Dr. Spiegal and Dr. Onir. They spent a long time talking to me and detailing my options. And after listening patiently to my request for a facelift… they said no. They explained that I wasn’t a really surgery candidate and I could get better results with Botox and Voluma filler. This is a sign of a great practice. They’re not motivated purely by money, but rather, what is best for their patients and what will give them the most natural results. I have no doubt there are other doctors in practice that would have done exactly what I asked and I would have walked out broke, and looking like a cat/human hybrid. I saw Dr. Onir for Botox and Voluma injections and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I don’t look like I’ve had any work done, I just look a lot better! I have to say, Dr. Onir is truly an artist. She’s also incredibly warm, funny, and just generally a joy to be around. While Botox and Voluma are amazing products, they are only as good as the doctor using them. Any doctor can give you injections or fillers, just like any artist can pick up some paint and a paint brush. But there’s a big difference between Botecelli’s “Birth of Venus” and “Dogs Playing Poker”. If you want your face to look like a masterpiece, you need to go to the masters. The difficult part is to find someone who is qualified and whom you trust. I have tried a few cosmetic spas and medical clinics prior to visiting the Spigiel Center. I haven’t had a particularly bad experience with those other places but I haven’t had a great one either and I didn’t feel comfortable going for my treatments. I never established a rapport with the provides and always felt like “just another client.” I felt like they would either do exactly what I asked for even though it wouldn’t suit me or they did what they wanted and I wasn’t happy with the result. There was never any guidance. My first encounter with Dr. Onir was fantastic and put me at ease. She was very informative and went over all my options and answered my questions. I wanted to get lip fillers and even thought I them before she could tell I was very nervous and didn’t push anything on me. I never looked like I “had my lips done” I just looked younger and better. And that’s exactly what I wanted. I scheduled a consultation with Dr Onir for Botox treatment in January for my forehead and crow's feet - I had a few wrinkles that were really bothering me and I was really growing tired of not knowing the right place to go. I Googled "Botox in my area" and The Spiegel Center came up right away. I called and was transferred to Jaime, the Aesthetic Patient Coordinator. She was so kind, answered all of my questions and scheduled my consultation at a time that would not interfere with my work schedule. She assured me that I would be very happy with my experience and results. She was right! I was very impressed from start to finish. I felt very relaxed and comfortable in the beautiful waiting room and was greeted very warmly by the really nice front desk girls. I was then brought into the room by the Aesthetic Coordinator, Jaime. She was very friendly and warm and discussed my concerns with me. She explained that it would not be painful and that I would be thrilled with the results. She made sure to answer all of my questions and also gave me information on skin care and explained how great my results would be and how great my skin would look not only with the Botox, but also with a good skin care regimen. She also explained, which I did not know, that the full results are not immediate and the full results would show in a couple weeks. I thought this was helpful so that I knew exactly what to expect! I did, however, notice improvement in just a couple days! Dr Onir came in shortly after and was very friendly and knew exactly what I needed! She was fair, gentle (I didn't feel a thing), didn't rush our discussion and went over everything from start to finish as far as what the treatment does, where she injects and why and took the time to make sure I was comfortable and that she had answered all of my questions. She made me feel very comfortable and I knew I was in good hands. For the treatment and results I got, the price was reasonable and my results are EXACTLY what I had hoped for! She made sure I was comfortable and also did not push me to do anything I did not need. When she was done, the Coordinator Jaime even took $100 off of my treatment because I had my treatment in the month of my Birthday. How nice is that? I will be going back for more Botox in another month or so as it has been a few months and I can't wait! I really am glad that I went to Dr Onir - I look younger and more relaxed and was treated like a friend. The skin care I bought has truly made a difference as well. I see results from that as well! I highly recommend Dr. Onir and The Spiegel Center. I would never go anywhere else.
