For many the chin area is a major area of dissatisfaction. For some, the chin may stick out too far, while for others the chin may be too small or not pronounced enough. Thanks to advancements that have been made in cosmetic and plastic surgery, we are now able to achieve better facial harmony and create for you the chin you’ve always wanted with improved in-office procedures that have little recovery time. These chin-correcting procedures can help you achieve better facial balance, leading to greater satisfaction with your appearance and self-esteem.

There are a few methods that are used to assist with reshaping the chin. Sometimes, a small implant is inserted into the chin directly through the mouth, just behind your lower lip and in front of your lower teeth. Done through the inside of the mouth, the procedure leaves no visible scar on the skin. This procedure, often called “chin plant”, can significantly improve your appearance. The doctors at The Spiegel Center spend time speaking with their patients and determining the best solution to reshape the chin smoothly with the jaw. This includes deciding on the shape and size of the implant that will give you the best and most beautiful results. Once you select the right size and shape of your implant, your doctor may recommend tightening the skin and tissues surrounding the implant or getting rid of a persistent double chin, with minimally invasive procedures such as FaceTite to the neck (also commonly called NeckTite), FaceTite, and Embrace. These procedures deliver radiofrequency or RF energy to your skin to tighten and rejuvenate the skin surrounding the chin implant and melt the fat of a double chin. Or the doctor will suggest removing the submental fat just underneath the chin to allow for a more contoured snatched jaw appearance. In this case, a small incision is made under the chin and a cannula (tube with suction) is inserted and attached to a powerful vacuum to remove the fat through liposuction.

While chin implant placement may be all you need, there are adjunct procedures that can get you the right shape to last a lifetime. The decisions are easy when you are speaking with a team of doctors that have done thousands of these procedures on people of all ages and ethnicities.

If your chin is too large, and a more significant reduction is required, tissue and bone that surround the chin bone itself may need to be re-contoured in order to achieve the desired result. This chin procedure will require general anesthesia and may have a longer recovery time. In this situation, the procedure will begin as in the prior case with a small incision made between the bottom lip and lower front teeth. During the procedure, the tissue surrounding the bone will be reshaped and stitched carefully into the desired position. Again, your doctor at The Spiegel Center may recommend an adjunct skin tightening procedure with the chin procedure to achieve the ultimate results. The beauty here again, is no outward surface cutting or suturing, and results that last a lifetime.

If you are not ready for something to be fixed, our doctors at The Spiegel Center have a temporary solution with the placement of hyaluronic acid fillers like Revanesse Versa, Restylane, and Juvederm or Calcium based filter Radiesse right in the chin area. Filler injections to the chin take only minutes with no downtime whatsoever. It’s a great way to achieve a new improved chin, requiring minimal maintenance of filler infections once or twice a year.

Over the years, the doctors at The Spiegel Center have assisted many patients with enhancing the appearance of their chins, which in turn has worked wonders at improving the self-esteem of so many patients. Although this type of procedure is relatively simple and able to change the lives of many, it is important to discuss the various options available and find just the right one for you. Our doctors will be able to advise you whether a particular technique is suited to your situation and whether there are alternative options. Before having cosmetic surgery, it is important to advise your doctor of any pre-existing medical conditions and discuss your overall mental and physical health. We will review everything with you to ensure you leave with the perfect and most beautiful result for you.
