Look Refreshed Instead of Fatigued

So many of us have too much to do and too little time. Unfortunately, this dynamic can take a toll on our sleep and diet. Even when we do eat right and get enough sleep, the damage may already be done, causing dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness under the eye to be an ever-present part of your face. Fortunately, Dr. Onir Spiegel and the team of experts at The Spiegel Center know how to help.

Why Do Problems In The Tear Trough Area Develop?

As mentioned above, age and lifestyle are the primary factors. The skin that surrounds the eyes is extremely delicate - much more so than the skin on other parts of the face. As we grow older, this skin becomes thinner. It also loses elasticity due to a reduction in collagen and elastin, two fibers that make skin look youthful and healthy. Lack of sleep and poor diet are the next big aggravators.

Genetics also plays a significant role: some people inherit a predisposition towards dark eye circles that no amount of sleep or healthy lifestyle choices can prevent. There are also certain medical issues like allergies and thyroid disorders that can contribute to the problem. Also, too much sun exposure can further weaken the skin, causing an accelerated breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers.

How Do Dermal Fillers Help Me Look Refreshed?

Dermal fillers are safe, viscous substances that are injected under the skin in precise locations. The fillers most suited to helping to revive the eyes are those that are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is already naturally occurring in the body.

Hyaluronic acid adds volume and hydration in a natural and understated way. It also supports collagen and elastin production, which stimulates the body into replenishing what was lost due to age. At The Spiegel Center, we often use FDA-approved fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, RHA, and Revanesse Versa for tear-trough rejuvenation.

What Is The Process Like?

The first step to vibrant and younger-looking eyes is a consultation with one of our experts on the Non-surgical Rejuvenation team. During the consultation, your aesthetic concerns will be heard, and your board-certified doctor will study your face as well as your medical history before suggesting a specialized action plan for under eye revival, including what filler would work best for you, exact filler placement, and how often maintenance visits should be scheduled to maintain results.

When receiving the fillers, a topical anesthetic is applied to patients upon request to ease any potential discomfort as well as injectable anesthetic. The Spiegel Center master injector will inject the filler carefully into the tear trough area with a very thin needle or cannula, and then follow up with a gentle massage to disperse the filler and ensure that it is evenly distributed. The whole process takes less than 30 minutes.

Is There A Recovery Process?

Tear trough fillers do not require a significant recovery process, and patients are free to resume their normal activities right after their appointment. There may be some swelling, redness, or mild bruising near the injection site; this is normal particularly in the under-eye area and will usually subside in a few days.

Patients should avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours to allow the filler to settle properly, and situations with excessive heat exposure should be avoided; this includes saunas, hot tubs, jacuzzis, and sun exposure. When going outside, patients should use strong sunblock and wear full protection to protect the face and prevent heat-induced inflammation.
