An amazing and innovative approach to skin tightening - right in the office!

The Spiegel Center is proud to be one of the first practices in New England to introduce the latest technology in rejuvenation for lower facial aging, wrinkles, and skin laxity: Ellacor. This novel device for wrinkle reduction and skin tightening was developed at Harvard/Mass General Hospital by the same inventors of CoolSculpting and laser hair removal.

What Is Ellacor?

Ellacor is a revolutionary system that treats wrinkles and skin laxity in the mid and lower face, and even in problem areas like around the mouth. Ellacor uses patented hollow needles to remove micro-cores of excess tissue without causing trauma or scarring to the superficial skin. This FDA-cleared technology can be used to treat moderate to severely wrinkled skin in most adults without a history of scarring or healing problems and with skin types I-IV.

At The Spiegel Center, we offer highly customizable Ellacor treatments that can be adjusted based on the severity of wrinkles and thickness of dermal tissue in the targeted area. This lets us address common aging concerns without surgical intervention, providing patients with a safe and effective solution for a more youthful appearance.  No stitches needed!

How Does Ellacor Work?

The Ellacor treatment involves the use of hollow needles that are less than 0.5mm wide. These needles remove micro-cores of skin without causing scarring. The procedure is quick, and a 10mm square area can be treated in less than three seconds!

This triggers your skin's natural healing process. As the microcores heal, the internal tissues tighten, improving skin architecture. The breakthrough technology in Ellacor allows your skin to repair itself naturally without visible scarring.  And, unlike other office treatment approaches, excess skin is directly removed, though without any stitches.

Your skin will produce new collagen over three to six months, resulting in a fresh-faced appearance. Only local anesthesia is needed, making the Ellacor treatment essentially painless. Most patients report minimal recovery time following the procedure, with “social downtime” between three to five days, though you may see redness or skin irritation for a few days longer.

A typical treatment plan includes three Ellacor sessions, each thirty days apart. However, since every patient has individual needs, our team will work with you to determine the best treatment plan based on your aesthetic goals and the current condition of your skin.

Ellacor Benefits

Ellacor treatment is a fast and effective option for skin rejuvenation, taking approximately one hour with minimal downtime afterwards.  It is particularly effective in treating superficial wrinkles around the mouth and sagging skin of the jowls in the mid to lower face.  These areas can sometimes be missed even with the best facelift, making Ellacor a valuable tool for looking your best.

Another significant benefit is that Ellacor can be combined with other non-invasive procedures, such as the following:

  • Fillers
  • Lasers
  • Radiofrequency and other energy skin tightening devices.

More Ellacor benefits include the following:

  • Non-surgical skin tightening by removing excess skin
  • Minimally invasive with no incisions or scarring
  • Long-lasting visible results as the body creates new collagen
  • High patient satisfaction rate even after one treatment

What is the device’s complete name?

Ellacor with Micro-Coring™ Technology.

How is Ellacor intended to be used?

Ellacor with Micro-Coring™ Technology is intended for medical professionals to treat moderate and severe mid to lower-face wrinkles for adults 22 or older with Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV.

How is the Ellacor System different from other skin revitalization devices?

Ellacor uses patented technology to remove micro-portions of excess skin, reducing wrinkles and improving the internal skin architecture. Other skin revitalization devices induce controlled thermal injury to produce new collagen.

How many treatments will I need?

The average patient needs three treatments approximately 30 days apart for the best results, but great results may be possible with fewer treatments and some will benefit from more.

How long is a typical treatment?

An Ellacor treatment generally takes one hour or less.

Is the recovery time long?

There is minimal recovery time following the Ellacor procedure. In the clinical trial, 70% of patients experienced an average of three days of social downtime.

Is the Ellacor treatment surgery?

No. Ellacor is a minimally invasive, non-surgical method to improve the appearance of wrinkles.

What are the potential side effects?

Following the procedure, expected side effects may include swelling, redness, discomfort, tenderness, and tightness. Most side effects resolve themselves within seven days post-treatment.

Is the treatment painful?

You’ll receive appropriate local anesthesia before the procedure to make you more comfortable; the average pain rating for Ellacor is only two out of ten.

Does Ellacor use laser, radiofrequency, or ultrasound energy?

The Ellacor with Micro-Coring™ Technology System does not use thermal energy to achieve results. Though radiofrequency and laser treatments are valuable approaches that can be combined with Ellacor. Ask your doctor at The Spiegel Center for a personalized recommendation.

How is Ellacor different from microneedling?

Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled injury, but the tissue is displaced, not removed. Ellacor with Micro-Coring™ Technology is the first device to remove the skin on the micro-scale for more comprehensive wrinkle reduction.

Can I receive Ellacor if I have a darker skin tone?

Because darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick V and VI) may react differently to aesthetic treatments than lighter tones (Fitzpatrick I-IV), a separate clinical study is needed to evaluate the proper protocols for using Ellacor on darker tones. Ask your doctor at The Spiegel Center if Ellacor is good for your skin tone as new studies are constantly being done.

How should I prepare for treatment with Ellacor?

The Spiegel Center team will provide a complete list of requirements and guidelines during your consultation.

How do I know whether Ellacor with Micro-Coring™ Technology is right for me?
