A Rhinoplasty That Compliments Your Face

While there is no one-size-fits-all ideal nose, those of Asian descent who seek rhinoplasties often wish to contour and lengthen the tip of their noses, add projection to their nose bridges, refine a bulbous tip, or narrow wide nostrils. Through delicate surgical re-proportioning, the nose can be contoured into a shape that enhances the entire face without adopting an anglicized look.

A Personalized Approach To Asian Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty with the team at The Spiegel Center in Newton, Massachusetts, is a customized experience for each patient. In addition to the technical expertise needed for a successful rhinoplasty, our doctors are well-versed in the specificities of nasal anatomy seen in those of Asian descent. This expertise enables them to make adjustments that have significant impact, while ensuring an overall harmonious look.

Dr. Spiegel and Dr. Tower have been performing rhinoplasties on Asian patients for many years, always yielding beautiful and natural results. Unlike many plastic surgeons in Asia, our doctors rarely use synthetic materials in rhinoplasties; this approach reduces the risk of infection dramatically. We often use rib cartilage which can come from a small incision under the breast, or via frozen sterilized cadaver rib which is ordered in advance of the surgery. Our doctors are among the best surgeons in the US and receive patients from all over the world.

What Happens During An Asian Rhinoplasty?

The particulars of each patient’s procedure vary based on their goals and their specific facial structure. The most common requests include narrowing the bottom of the nose, tip-of-nose reshaping, and raising the bridge of the nose to improve the facial profile. Often this can be done without any incisions on the outside of the nose.

The Spiegel Center does more than 150 nose surgeries each year and has a track record of excellent results. Our physicians are experts in revision rhinoplasty, implant revision, and liquid rhinoplasty, which is a non-surgical method that uses fillers to balance and contour the nose and chin.

What Does Recovery Look Like?

As with any surgery, swelling and bruising may occur following a rhinoplasty. The pain following the procedure should be minimal and can be managed easily with over-the-counter medication, though prescription pain medications are available if indicated. Bruising should dissipate in around one to two weeks. In most cases, patients are able to return to work after a week, though you will feel up to work sooner. Dissolvable stitches are typically used, and follow-up visits are scheduled to make sure the nose is healing properly.

What Results Can I Expect?

Your newly contoured nose will be better defined and proportional with the rest of your facial features, and should no longer look too broad, flat, or undefined. Your side profile will be greatly improved, and your results should look completely natural. Changes are visible soon after your procedure, although the final results of a rhinoplasty appear once swelling goes down completely, which takes around 12 months. In most cases, patients are able to return to work after around one week, and feel good about their appearance in only 10 days.
