The New Year is quickly approaching. Do you have a resolution for 2014? What about a beauty resolution? A clear complexion isn’t out of reach. The following beauty resolutions will have you saying hello to beautiful and healthy skin in 2014.

Wash Your Face Every Night

How many nights in the last year have you gone to bed without washing your face? If you said even 1 night that is too many. Leaving makeup on your skin overnight clogs pores and wreaks havoc on your complexion. Wash your face every night for a clear, beautiful complexion. And give yourself a no-excuse solution by keeping facial cleansing wipes on your bedside table. That way, you’ll have a clean face even on the most exhausting nights where you can’t even make it to the sink.

Wear SPF Every Day

SPF is crucial for beautiful skin, even in the winter. Broad-spectrum sunscreens protect skin from skin cancer, aging and sunburns and should be worn whether you are inside or outside. Work sunscreen application into your everyday routine by using a facial moisturizer or makeup with a built-in sunscreen.

Shampoo Every 2 Days

Washing your hair daily strips hair of its natural oils, so try and skip a wash when you can. Invest in a good shower cap to wear while you shower, as well as a dry shampoo to help style and control your strands on those off-days. And while we’re talking about hair resolutions, avoid combing your hair right out of the shower. This can cause unnecessary breakages. Instead, let your hair dry in a towel for 10 minutes, then comb it out with a wide-tooth comb.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

Sleep does the body good, and this includes your skin. A good night’s rest gives your body time to repair and renew itself. This includes your skin, as sleep gives your body time to give it better circulation and oxygen flow to the skin. And while sleep doesn’t seem to affect those unfortunate dark circles under your eyes (it has more to do with your anatomy), it can help reduce puffiness and lessen the effects of psoriasis, eczema and atopic dermatitis. All of this and more is reason enough to get 7 to 8 hours of ZZZs every night.

Exercise

We all know exercise is good for the body, but it’s also great for your skin. And we’re not talking about weight lifting or running any marathons. Exercises as simple as a brisk walk or playing tennis can do the body wonders. Plus, it is a free way to give your skin a glowing complexion. And while sweating may seem gross, it’s actually getting rid of all the trapped dirt and oil that is currently residing in your skin – just remember to wash your face after every exercise session. Exercise also gives you a more restful sleep (see above for those beauty benefits), not to mention a hotter body, so you will feel more confident in the skin you’re in.

All of the above tips are easy ways to beautify your skin in 2014. By making simple resolutions that add just a little extra time to your daily routine, your skin will be clear, smooth and beautiful. So what are you waiting for? Start getting beautiful skin today!
