These days, most people have familiarized themselves with the aspect of gluten-free diets and understand why it has become so popular. Some people have adopted the gluten-free lifestyle because they suffer from Celiac disease and others are under the impression that the dietary change could help them shed weight or clear their thinking. This has resulted in a few ranges of gluten-free skin care products being launched over the past few years as well.

Gluten is Everywhere

Regardless of what the current stance on gluten is, most people aren’t aware of the fact that many of the skin care and beauty product ranges list it as an ingredient. Most people are only now starting to realize that what they put on their bodies is just as important as what they put into them. This is thanks to new skin care ranges such as those released by Goop and Tammy Fender – both of which claim to be natural to the point where it is possible to actually eat their products.

Filling a Gap in the Market

Despite the fact that many people are considering the gluten-free lifestyle to be nothing more than a fad, this is actually not the case for some. Those living with celiac disease have to exercise extreme caution in that they are not able to consume gluten in any form whatsoever. As a result, this has created a market for gluten-free skin care and beauty products.

Actress and owner of the NYC-based gluten-free bakery, Jennifer’s Way, Jennifer Esposito, made a decision to assist with fulfilling this need. She recently helped launch Éclair Naturals, which is a luxury line of pure body care products that are both gluten and soy-free. In addition, they are vegan and cruelty-free.

Helping Fellow Sufferers

After being diagnosed with severe celiac disease a few years ago, Esposito made it her goal to help others navigate the challenging and often limiting disease in a world where virtually every choice focusses on something gluten-related. When interviewed, Esposito said, “’Gluten-free’ has become such a catch phrase and trend now that I’m sure people are going to be like, ‘Oh, god, now it’s in my products!’ But for someone like me, it’s actually very important. The gluten molecule is too big to be absorbed by the skin. When I was diagnosed with celiac my hair was falling out in clumps and I had a burning scalp, and as soon as I stopped the gluten shampoo it all stopped.”

Along with being gluten-free, the Éclair skin care range is completely free of parabens and highly affordable – both aspects of which can be difficult to find when it comes to skin care products. Esposito said that “you want a clean product, because hat you’re putting on your skin actually matters.”

All products in the Éclair range are certified non-GMO and have been manufactured in the U.S., and they can be purchased from retailers like Rite Aid and from the Éclair Naturals website. Most of the range costs $10 or less.
