Add Definition To Your Lower Face

A defined chin and jawline are hallmarks of an attractive face. Unfortunately, genetics prevent some of us from achieving the balance and facial harmony we want. Micrognathia (a small chin), age and the accompanying double chins, stubborn fat in the lower face, and skin laxity can rob us of a chiseled, snatched jawline or one we may have had in our youth. At The Spiegel Center in Newton, Massachusetts, our Master Injectors know just what to do.

Dermal Fillers As An Alternative To Implants

Many times, a lack of facial symmetry can make it seem like the chin lacks prominence. By carefully applying dermal fillers to the nose and chin, The Spiegel Center doctors can actually balance the face beautifully, creating pleasing proportions that require no incisions, recovery time, or hefty price tag.

Definition and contour are specialties of The Spiegel Center team, and they can establish a natural-looking jawline and shapely chin that blends seamlessly with the rest of the face for those who have a concave lower face. Fillers can also eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and correct sagging skin by adding volume.

How Does The Process Work?

The very first thing that happens is an in-depth consultation with Dr. Onir or a member of her experienced aesthetic team. During the consultation, your cosmetic concerns and goals are carefully listened to, and your face and medical history are studied closely. Using this information, a tailored beauty plan is created that includes which filler is right for you, where to place the filler, and recommendations for how often you should return for touch-ups to maintain the preferred look.

During the actual session, the patient is made comfortable in our state-of-the-art clinic. Topical anesthesia is applied for those who are worried about experiencing discomfort. Then, the doctor will carefully inject the filler into the target spot and gently massage the area so the filler disperses evenly. After that, the patient is free to leave. The whole process takes less than 30 minutes and can be done on your lunch break.

Is There A Lengthy Recovery Time?

The beauty of dermal fillers is that they are safe and easy to use with no downtime required. Patients can resume normal activity right after a session. Minor swelling, bruising, or redness can occur, but this is very minor and will go away in a day or two.

Patients should avoid vigorous exercise and environments with excessive heat for at least 24 hours after their session and stay out of direct sunlight. If going outdoors, a hat with full coverage is a must, and strong sunblock should be used. Patients should also avoid touching or rubbing their faces for a day or two.

What Will My Results Be Like?

In short – wonderful. Your face will be evenly proportioned and markedly more attractive. Your chin and jawline will be crisp and defined and balanced harmoniously with your nose. Wrinkles and fine lines will be hardly noticeable and for some patients, may disappear entirely.

Fillers last for 6-12 months, depending on factors like a patient’s metabolism, the amount of filler used, and the scope of correction needed. Unlike implants, chin augmentation with fillers requires regular touch-up visits.
