Why More Dads are Turning to Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery isn’t just for socialites and soccer moms anymore. A new trend is showing that more and more dads are turning to plastic surgery. Why are these men feeling the needs to go under the knife?
The main pressure that dad’s today are facing is to look like the stereotypical ‘athletic dad.’ Most feel like they need to look like these ripped, muscular celebrity dads like David Beckham or Chris Hemsworth and many are turning to plastic surgery to achieve these ends. Those who can’t or do not wish to obtain their athletic physique through hard work, diet and exercise are turning to liposuction, implants, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgeries and ear shaping to bring their look together.
There’s nothing like heading to the park with the kids for a fun-filled afternoon, only to be shown up by the other neighborhood dads running rings around their kids, or doing dozens of effortless pull ups on the monkey bars. Just like mothers compete against each other because of their looks, their clothes, or their accessories, dads find themselves competing with one another based on their athletic abilities. Even if they can’t do the pull ups, many are turning to plastic surgery to at least be able to look the part.
Another big reason that dads are turning to plastic surgeries is that they feel like they’ve lost something in the intervening years and they want to get back to the body that they had in college. For many, it may be impossible to achieve without surgery. Men are just as susceptible to body envy as women are, and seeing the models in workout or men’s health magazines can be detrimental to their self esteem and increase the desire to go under the knife.
Just like women spend hours improving their looks to attract a suitable mate, men spend a lot of time making themselves attractive enough to attract an ideal woman. People, no matter their gender, are more likely to judge their potential partners based on looks first, and other personality attributes later. Men and women alike spend a lot of times concerned with their appearance because they see it as the only way to appeal to other people.
Like many women, dads are turning to plastic surgery as a way to improve their self esteem. Having something about themselves that they dislike can be very damaging to both confidence and self esteem, so more and more men are turning to their local plastic surgeon as a way to improve that fact. It can be as simple as a crooked smile, or as complicated as breast tissue removal or liposuction. It doesn’t take much to damage the self esteem of even the most confident man.
When it comes right down to it, people should be happy with their appearance, but many are not. That unhappiness can be easily fixed with a consultation with the local plastic surgeon. No one should look down on dads for wanting to improve their appearance.
