Thinking about going under the knife? Got a few flaws that a little nipping and tucking could fix? Most aesthetic surgeries are performed to restore a feature to its proper function and appearance, but that hasn’t stopped these five celebrities from transforming plastic surgery from a necessary medical procedure to a favorite personal pastime.

Joan Rivers

A writer, director and comedienne so popular that she is referred to as the “Queen of Comedy”; Joan Rivers began her passionate love affair with cosmetic surgeries after an eyelift back in 1965. She was only 32 at the time, and the procedure was intended to help boost her career. The poster child for celebrity plastic surgery, Joan has undergone face-lifts, nose jobs and even breast augmentation. She doesn’t regret any of it, and is happy to discuss her many cosmetic procedures, even mocking her own bizarre obsession.

Dolly Parton

From liposuction and eyelifts to Botox ® and breast implants, Dolly Parton is no stranger to cosmetic surgery. She openly admits to fixing anything that sags or wrinkles. The beloved country star, philanthropist, author and actress is an advocate of celebrity plastic surgery. She believes it is her duty to maintain a certain image for her fans. Dolly has scaled back her cosmetic endeavors a bit since her younger days however. After years of major plastic surgery, Dolly only goes in nowadays for Botox ® injections.

David Hasselhoff

Plastic surgeons are still debating the extent of David Hasselhoff’s cosmetic procedures, and he won’t admit to having undergone drastic celebrity plastic surgery. Actor and businessman David Hasselhoff is an avid user and advocate of Botox ®. He remarks that he was initially skeptical of the injections, but after his first round of fillers, the lines and wrinkles that had prevented him from feeling his youthful vigor began to disappear. He makes his use of Botox ® well known, and encourages others to undergo the procedure.

Denise Richards

Denise Richards is a successful fashion model-turned-actress. To improve her self-image, she has undergone three breast augmentations. She was nothing more than a 19-year-old student at the time of her first breast enhancement. After beginning her acting career, she decided to undergo more celebrity plastic surgery after being told it would improve her physique. Denise’s final breast augmentation was done to satisfy herself. She says the procedures have made her feel more feminine.

Kate Gosselin

After starring in a reality TV series that showcased her life as a mom of twins and sextuplets, Kate Gosselin was finally able to afford the tummy tuck she desired. After a nasty break-up with her co-star husband, Kate underwent a massive makeover. Rumors continue to fly as to how many cosmetic surgeries she has undergone. Kate didn’t keep her enthusiasm about her celebrity plastic surgery to herself. She says that a tummy tuck is the best thing a woman can do after having kids, and advises every mom to do the same.

Cosmetic surgeries carry the same risks as any other medical surgery, and there is no guarantee that the results from such procedures will be good ones. Many famous men and women have been the victims of botched plastic surgeries, and are ashamed of their procedures. Still, there are many advocates out there for celebrity plastic surgery.
